The route follows US-101 south through Humboldt County before arriving at one of California’s most significant redwood forests.

Drive the Avenue of the Giants

Running through the heart of the park is the Avenue of the Giants, a scenic roadway that parallels US-101 and provides access to many of the park’s most famous groves, trailheads, and viewpoints.

The drive allows visitors to experience the forest at a slower pace while passing beneath some of the tallest trees in the world. Along the route, numerous pullouts, interpretive stops, and short trails make it easy to explore the park beyond the windshield.

For many visitors, the Avenue of the Giants serves as the gateway to Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
